Basketball

 

The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation Boys and Girls Youth Basketball program is proud to partner with the RCX / New Orleans Pelicans. Designed for young athletes passionate about the game, the program offers skill development, an understanding of basketball fundamentals and fun for all ages. Our program instills values of teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline, which allows players to learn, grow and elevate their skills across all age groups. 

Registration Information

Registration: September 1 - September 19
Late Registration (additional fees): September 20 - September 21
Parents/Guardians must register participants with the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Volunteers are encouraged to coach by signing up through their local booster club. For more information, visit Coaches Corner.  

What's Coming!! The Department of Parks and Recreation will now offer a Parent Portal for Registration. Here parents can save registration information and add their athlete to their account profile following them throughout their Recreation Career! Be on the lookout!

Ages: 5 - 15 
Cutoff Date: September 1 

Practice begins in November.  
Games take place from November - early January 
End of Season Tournament begins mid-January 
Note: There is no end of season tournament for the 5-6 age group in either boys or girls as this is an introductory and developmental, skill-based league.

League Rules

Boys League Breakdown (Based on Previous Year; Subject to Change) Please Note: The age groups below are offered; however, this format is subject to change due to participation numbers. In the event an age group does not have the required team count, either age groups will combine if able or participants will be refunded. Saturday games will be played during the regular season and will be played during end of season tournament; teams may play more than 1 game a day during end of season play. Games will not be moved due to extra-curricular activities outside of educational school events. Games may only be rescheduled for educational events if the calendar allows. 

Days of play (subject to change pending individual league numbers)

Boys League

  • 5-6 Boys East Bank (Monday or Friday)
  • 5-6 Boys West Bank (Monday or Friday)
  • 7 Boys Division (Tuesday or Wednesday)
  • 8 Boys Division (Tuesday or Thursday)
  • 9-10 Boys A Division (Tuesday or Thursday)
  • 9-10 Boys B Division (Tuesday or Thursday)
  • 11-12 Boys Division (Monday or Wednesday)
  • 13-15 Boys Division (Monday or Wednesday)
  • (Note: In the 13-15 division If not enough participation in this age group, this league will be combined with 11-12 division and will be a 11-13 Division.)

Note: In the event that there are not participants to facilitate a specific age group's league, registrants will be refunded.
