18th Annual Trash Bash Set for April 18

Post Date:March 04, 2026 2:10 PM

St. Charles Parish is excited to host its 18th annual Trash Bash on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in partnership with Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Love the Boot Week, Louisiana’s largest litter cleanup effort.

“Trash Bash is a great example of St. Charles Parish residents coming together to take pride in their community and make a real difference by keeping our parish clean,” said Parish President Matthew Jewell. “Being recognized with the Outstanding Recycling Award in 2025 reflects the hard work of our residents, volunteers, and industry partners who care deeply about protecting our environment. We appreciate our continued partnership with Keep Louisiana Beautiful and look forward to building on that momentum to keep St. Charles Parish clean and thriving.”

At Trash Bash 2025, we saw a great turnout, with 782 volunteers collecting 447 bags of trash from public spaces around our community during Love the Book Week. St. Charles Parish was recognized with the Outstanding Recycling Award by the Lieutenant Governor’s Office for collecting 634 plastic bottles and aluminum cans during Trash Bash 2025.

Volunteers signing up for Trash Bash can choose their cleanup area or be assigned one. Necessary equipment, including pickup sticks, gloves and trash bags, will be distributed at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center the week of Trash Bash. Once again, participants will have the option while completing their cleanup to collect #1 plastic bottles and aluminum cans for recycling through Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s partnership with Coca-Cola and Osprey Initiative.

All are strongly encouraged to sign up ahead of time as individuals or groups at www.stcharlesparish.gov/trashbash. The deadline to register for Trash Bash is Thursday, April 9.

After the cleanup, participants will return their equipment to the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. A post-event celebration featuring food, fun and activities will begin at 11:30 a.m. All participants will be entered to win raffle prizes. The drawing will take place at the Trash Bash Celebration.

Students seeking volunteer service hours for school or church can earn them by participating in Trash Bash. Certificates are available upon request at the check-in table at the Trash Bash Celebration.
